Let's Get You Deaf Aware!
Did you know that 1 in 5 adults have a hearing impairment, and that the pandemic has isolated many deaf and hard of hearing, due the fact that they have been unable to communicate effectively because they cannot lipread effectively with everyone wearing masks.
The #WeSupportDeafAwareness campaign has been set up to address this - to help organisations and you, the employees, to equip you with the tools to be able to communicate more effectively with those who are deaf or hard of hearing.
The training helps you to understand a bit of what it is like to be deaf/hard of hearing, and how best to communicate with them, across different scenarios....
Face-to-Face
When someone walks into your bar or restaurant, reception or office, and tells you they are deaf and have to lipread, what should you do?
Video Call
What behaviours should you and your team adopt if someone on your video call is hard of hearing - how do you make the meeting effective and make them feel included?
Telephone
What tips can you learn that will help you communicate more effectively with someone on the phone who struggles to hear?
Who is this for?
This training and promotion campaign is designed for all organisations that support equality and disability inclusion.
It is particularly relevant for HR and Customer-facing staff, but the great news is that this isn't charged on a 'per-head' basis. Whether you have 5 or 5,000 employees, it doesn't matter.
And what's more, if your organisation is a charity, not-for-profit, or annual turnover is less than £2M, the training is free (we'd love a donation, if possible). If your business is larger, then a relatively small fee is applied.
So, what are you waiting for?
